Nicholson completes a hat trick of 32 triumphs at Sedbergh! In a top class field, Ian retained his trophy for another year to become a five time champion, of just the eleven times this event has been held. Brilliant day with great bowling on a super surface to start the 2025 season!
Nico looked in the mood early, cruising passed Callum Baxter then Linda Valentine in the early rounds, before two hard fought victories over James Duffin in the quarters, then Ian France in the semi. In the final, the Goat Martin Gilpin started well but struggled to maintain that form with his tiring joints and could not make it over the finish line, being pegged back by his long time pal and rival. Gilp bested Martin Wilson in the semi after a tussle with Gav Parker in the quarters, but could easily have been defeated in round one by top Cumbrian lady, Caroline Bushell, fighting back to win 21-20.
